yes it does
Yes it is an interference engine. If the timing is off, by even one tooth, you will bend the valves
The valves can hit the tops of the pistons damaging or breaking either.
Slim to none! Valves will remain open while pistons move upward and usually bend several valves.
yes
yes,it is an interference motor.I just did one and it bent all the intake valves.
The Daewoo Nubira CDX has 16 valves - it is a 2 litre 16 valve double overhead camshaft 4 cylinder made by GMH in Australia!
Our 1.6L Nubira had a timing gear fail. The mechanic at the time continued to turn the engine over in the attempt to start it which bent all 16 valves in the head. The repair cost was over $1700.00 & that was back in 2006. You might be better to go & pull a head from another Nubira from a reputable wreckers.
yes this is an interference engine damage to valves will occur if the timing belt breaks and the engine is turned
These cars had a problem with the teeth on the original timing belt coming off and the belt not breaking. if this has happened most likely you have bent valves too. These are a interference engine which means if they slip on the timing the valves hit the pistons. Chevrolet should have recalled these cars and put a better timing belt in them. Instead they did a goodwill service where they paid for a new timing belt if the owner paid to install it. I had the same problem. I was driving down the road and all of a sudden the engine quit. It turned out to be the timing belt had broken in mine, timing belts should be replaced every xx,xxx miles or 5 years whichever is sooner, since this is called a zero clearance engine (no indents in the pistons for valves) it also bent 6 valves.
The belt breaking would have no effect on the sensors, but it may have bent the valves. That would cause a no start. The belt breaking would have no effect on the sensors, but it may have bent the valves. That would cause a no start.
Yes, the valves will most likely be damaged if the timing belt breaks. There is usually further damage associated with the timing belt breaking while the engine is in operation. Some additional damages could be, connecting rods, crankshaft, lifters, and cam damage.
