When you use screens types other than a specifically made projection screen, they can compromise the image quality and degrade color reproduction and brightness.
The silver screen is a type of projection screen that was used during the early years of the film industry. It has since become a blanket term for the films of that era.

It is a Mercator projection!
Plasma flat screen TVs generally have the best picture, but this added quality means added cost. LCD televisions don't suffer from glare the way CRTs do, but the colors aren't as vibrant. DLP TV is a new technology which looks best with very large screen sizes. A rear projection TV is a great way to get a larger screen at a relatively good price, but the picture is much less clear when viewed from the side.
The term refers to a type projection screen made from fabric containing small amounts of silver, which gives it a dull gray look. They are better suited for low power projection (or over long distances such as a movie theater) but don't provide as great an angle of view as the white screen. I bought one many years ago for projecting my slides, and sometimes referred to it by it's other name, the lenticular screen. People used to refer to the motion picture industry or local cinema as "the silver screen".
The CRT refers to cathode ray tube. This is the oldest of the varous TV types. More recent developments have been projection, plasma, etc.
The Mercator projection
They're like a projection screen but smaller. They are platformed on the wall with a white screen and four "electronic pens" at the bottom. When turned on, you can highlight, type, create lesson plans, "move things", etc. Everything is done by touch.
It depends on what type of Flat Screen you are looking for. Do you prefer price over quality? What type of flat screen are you looking for? For the best Resolution, the Samsung PN51D6500 is voted highest quality for a 3D television. If you are looking for the best price the Panasonic TC-P50S30 at 999.00 has a great contrast ration and internet content for a great price.
