It only takes batteries if you want it to shoot automaticly. You can shoot it manually without batteries.
The Vulcan requires batteries to function, but does not come with the blaster. You have to keep buying new batteries, which is quite expensive.
To fire automatically, you do, but the Vulcan can fire single-shot and does not need batteries to do so.
The vulcan takes 6 D batteries. It sounds like a ripoff, but it lasts REALLY long, and for the vulcan? TOTALLY worth it.Trust me.
