Yes because when the thermal energy of a substance increases, it's particles move faster. If the thermal energy of a solid increases, it's particles melts into a liquid. The liquid state of a substance always has a higher thermal energy than it's solid state

An increase in thermal energy may change a solid to a liquid, a liquid to a gas, or a solid to a gas.A decrease in thermal energy may cause a change in the opposite direction - for example, from a liquid to a solid.

How does change in thermal energy causes matter to change from one state to another?

An increase in thermal energy may change a solid to a liquid, a liquid to a gas, or a solid to a gas.A decrease in thermal energy may cause a change in the opposite direction - for example, from a liquid to a solid.

How can a liquid expand without changing state?

A liquid can expand when thermal energy is absorbed which is known as thermal expansion, but the thermal energy is not enough to change the liquid's state. When there is enough thermal energy, the liquid may change to a gas if the particles move fast enough to escape the liquid or it may change to a solid if the thermal energy is released from the matter.

What makes matter change forms?

Any type of reaction, really. You could add heat or remove heat (thermal energy) to cause the matter to change phase. Also pressure can compress the matter into a new form.

What is absorbed or released when matter changes from one state to another?

yes. Matter can change state when thermal energy is absorbed or released.

What heppens to matter when you add thermal energy?

When you add thermal energy to matter, either the temperature will increase, or there will be a change in the state (phase) of matter, for example when ice melts.

What are four forms of energy related to change in matter?

The answer i got is Forms of energy related to changes in matter include thermal energy, chemical energy, electromagnetic energy, and electrical energy.

Can energy change to one anothere?

Yes, for instance potential energy can change into kientic energy and electromagnetic raditaion energy can change into thermal or chemical energy. It is also possible to change matter into energy and energy into matter.

What is the study of energy and it's ability to change matter?

For thermal energy, thermodynamics. For energy of movement, mechanics.

What is one kind of energy produced during a chemical change in matter?

For example thermal energy.

What happens to matter to when you add thermal energy?

What do therodynamics apply to?

Everything, all matter within existence is subject to the transfer of thermal energy. Thermodynamics help us to understand how matter will behave when undergoing a change in thermal energy.

What happens to states of matter when you remove thermal energy?

When thermal energy is added the matter goes slower
