I have never tried salt. But, the best thing to use to remove the odor of cat urine is white vinegar and water.
I've used this product a few times and it seems to work for me. I have found that it works better when the urine stain is wet, opposed to when the urine is dried and has been in the carpet for over a day. It will remove the smell of dry stains, but not the stain itself.
no it dosent
It absorbs the smelly urine, the enzymes in the urine, and it really really does work, if you do it correctly... You MUST put enough on it,. If you dont, it wont work.. Put a pile of it on the spot, then spritz with vinegar water, half and half.. You will see, after 3 hours, you can take it up, vaccum or brush away.... Clean as a whilstle.

If the file is really infected so it may work or not (because it is difficult or it is not really infected), but if it is not then it will not work. If AVG manages to remove the virus, the file is free and not infected anymore, if not then you should move it to the vault or delete it.
