Best Answer

Hydrogen bonds form between water molecules and are relatively weak because there is actually no transferring or sharing of electrons. It would takes much less energy to break hydrogen bonds between water molecules than it does to break the molecules into oxygen and hydrogen.

Weak bond formed between water molecules due to their polarity?

Hydrogen Bond

What is the type of bond that forms the water molecule?

The weak bond that exists between water molecules is called a hydrogen bond. In a water molecule, H2O, each hydrogen atom forms a covalent bond with the oxygen atom. Because the oxygen atom is so much larger than the hydrogen atoms, it is more electronegative and holds the electrons more tightly. Because of this, the oxygen atom develops a slightly negative charge, and the hydrogen atoms develop a slightly positive charge. This causes the water molecule to be polar, like a bar magnet. Weak attractions (hydrogen bonds) form between adjacent water molecules, so that the slightly negative oxygen atom forms a weak bond with a slightly positive hydrogen atom.

Is a hydrogen bond a weak bond that is formed when a hydrogen atom covaleny bonds to one electronegative atom?

Yes it is a weak bond because the force of attraction is weak.

Is a hydrogen bond the strongest that formed between molecules?

Actually it is a weak bond like the attraction between water molecules.

Is Covalent bond is a strong bond or weak bond?

Covalent bond is a strong chemical bond. Hydrogen bonds are weak bonds.

Are hydrogen bonds weak bonds that form between water molecules in liquid form?

Yes, H-bonds are weak bonds. The hydrogen bond is approximately 30 times weaker than a normal covalent bond.

What kind of bond is a weak attraction between a slightly positive region of one atom and a slightly negative region of another?

A hydrogen bond.

A type of weak chemical bond formed when the partially positive hydrogen atom in one molecule is attracted the partially negative atom of a neighboring molecule?

A hydrogen bond.

What holdes nitrogen bases together?

A weak hydrogen bond, adenine and thymine have a double hydrogen bond cytosine and guanine have a triple hydrogen bond

Do hydrogen bonds have to break in order for water to increase in temperature?

a hydrogen bond is a weak interaction involving a hydrogen atom and fluorine, oxygen, or nitrogen atom...... there for it must form, not break because it is a weak interaction!

Is hydrogen bond a biologically weak bond?

Biologically, hydrogen bonds are considered to be strong intermolecular forces.
