For any suspected ear infection, it is best to take your dog to the vet, and allow the vet to prescribe antibiotics according to weight of the dog. If a vet prescribes doxycycline for the ear infection make sure the dog finishes the entire course of the antibiotics.

A dog will constantly be scratching its ear. Also, if you take a tissue and rub it in its ear, and foul smelling browny-red gunk comes out, then an ear infection is likely. The only sure fire way is to take the dog to a vet.

The best place to receive treatment for a dog with an ear infection is at a local vet. The dogs ear will be inspected by a professional doctor and they will provide the owner with the best treatment possible.

if you call a dog's name or make its favorite sound and he/she doesn't react it could mean it has water in it's ear or has an ear infection. If you suspect this, you should take your dog to the vet.
