Bile
bile
Bile is produced by the liver which is then stored in the gallbladder below it, which sends it down the bile duct and into the duodenum where it emulsifies fat particles in the process of digesting lipids.Bile or gall is a bitter yellow or green alkaline fluid secreted by hepatocytes from the liver of most vertebrates. In many species, bile is stored in the gallbladder between meals and upon eating is discharged into the duodenum where the bile aids the process of digestion of lipids.
Essentially the gallbladder is not required to live. It is responsible for digesting fats in food. Many people when eating an unusually high fat meal will have pain in their upper abdomen called a gallbladder spasm. People who have had there gallbladder removed will often have issues eating high fat meals because it is not as digested and causes very fast gastrointestinal distress(diarrhea). The gall bladder stores the bile produced by the liver. You can still live if your gallbladder is removed.
Bile is produced in the liver and stored and concentrated in the gallbladder, then transported to the duodenum via the bile duct when needed. The bile salts break down fats (called gall) via emulsification, which enlarges the surface area of the fats, and allows for more efficient digestion of lipids by enzymes in the duodenum.Bile is a sticky semi-thick substance that is dark in color. It is a bitter, alkaline, brown/yellow/green fluid. It is an alkaline liuid composed mostly of water, bile salts, bile pigments (bilirubin, from the breakdown of hemoglobin), fats, and cholesterol.Presuming that we are referencing a HEALTHY HUMAN BEING (post infancy) then: BILE is PRODUCED & SECRETED by the LIVER and EXCESS amounts will be STORED in the GALL BLADDER the liver The liver. It's then stored by the gallbladder. stomachBile is made by the liver and stored and released into the intestine in response to dietary fat by the gall bladder.
