the purpose of dulce et decorum est was to reflect the horrors and disasters experienced in the war, to show the soldiers decided they would give up their lives to fight for their country. Although, many of the soldiers were in pain and agony, the still believed fighting for their country was the right thing to do.
The subject of this poen, from what I can tell, is World War 1
It tells people not join any wars because it is too dangerous and it disrupts peoples lives.
And is an utter waste.
