check your ground wire to the gauge
Failed gauge, wiring, or level sensor.
Your check gauge light comes on if : your coolant temperature guage shows the temperature is high your oil pressure gauge shows the oil pressure is low or your fuel gauge shows the fuel tank is near empty
Perhaps there is an insufficient gas level in the tank?
My 2001 had the same problem. There is a GM recall to replace the sending unit.
take the gas tank down and replace the fuel sensor.
The fuel gauge works on a variable earth type resistor. Basically if you were to ground the fuel float wiring to earth, it would shoot all the way to full. So I could say there may be a short in the earth circuit. Or what somethimes happens is the gauges over time begin to stick. Just give the top of the dash a tap. The gauge may resolve it's self if you do this, other wise I'd be loking a the fuel float circuit.
Sounds like the charging system has failed. Have the system tested by your local auto parts store, they will do this for no cost.
The gauge does not cause the heat; it only shows what it is.
check your answer
A fuel gauge.
It shows the estimated miles per gallon at that moment. You will notice that the numbers correlate to the mpg figures. So if you are driving on the highway at 65 MPH and your MPG gauge shows 25. It is shows that at that moment, you are getting 25 miles to the gallon. It basically helps you determine fuel consumption. It is not exact, but an estimate.
your guage must be broke unless you didnt put any gasoline in it
