this is an incomplete question.only 'yes' or 'no' is possible If it's getting too hot and there's no heating in the cab, then you need water n antifreeze. Keep it topped up! if you are loosing alot of water then find the leak n fix it....it is a silly question

Why does your cooling fan come on when car is just sitting?

While your car is running the engine is heating up. While your driving you have air being forced over the radiator cooling it off. When you are sitting still you don't have that air so your engine is heating up even more so the cooling fan comes on to help cool you engine off. Via cooling the radiator.

Can the water pump cause problems with heating and cooling in Taurus 96?

Yes(!) the water pump can cause problems with heating and cooling.A failing water pump is not able to properly move engine coolant - making it hard for the heater to produce warm air in the cabin. For example, you may find the heater works better when the engine is turning faster like while driving (versus just idling) - this could be a water pump with worn or a broken impeller.See "Related Questions" below for more about Taurus/Sable heating system problems

Why does the engine overheat when you turn the vent fan on?

When you turn the vent fan on in a vehicle, it can sometimes cause the engine to overheat due to increased load on the engine’s cooling system. The fan draws power from the engine, which may lead to reduced efficiency, particularly if the cooling system is already compromised or if the radiator fan is not functioning properly. Additionally, if the ventilation system is not allowing proper airflow or if the coolant levels are low, it can exacerbate heating issues. Regular maintenance of the cooling system can help prevent such overheating problems.
