Engine light wont go off on a Chevy cavaliar but car runs fine and replaced what the code said it was how come?

could be a bad O2 sensor or a loose gas cap. more than likely it will go away in a day or two.
if you must know, take it to autozone or one of those guys and they will scan it for free
Just because the code says O2 sensor, that doesn't mean the sensor is bad. You could have a wiring problem to the sensor.
