Most likely cause is a burnt out inlet valve. You need to do a compression check.
Backfiring through the carburetor and no power would seem to be symptoms indicating a problem with your timing. Have the distributor checked.
engine has bad intake valve,
Make sure the engine is in good condition. Compression test, leak-down test, etc. If it's a good engine, the problem is probably a mis-adjusted accelerator pump linkage or it might need larger discharge nozzles. When it pops through the exhaust, it's lean.
It would help us if we knew what make, model and engine you have. Your ignition could have gotten wet. The timing may have jumped. The spark plug wires are out of order. The distributor cap and rotor may be bad.
possibly the catalyst converter mass air flow sensor !!!!
it means when some thing explodes <><><><><> It could mean that the engine is backfiring, perhaps due to timing error. It could mean that an exhaust valve is not opening, perhaps due to a bent pushrod, causing release of the combustion cycle back into the intake manifold.
Orville Redinbockers
You have a compression loss probably resulting from worn rings. An enging rebuild should fix this problem. first check that the pcv valves are operating correctly as this could be the problem..
Probably. Could also be a timing chain problem.
problem in the sestem
On the rubber air intake line between the Filter box and the Throttle body. Round device, pops right out without tools.
Low fuel pressure will do that,as will timing being off, bent push rod,bad valve. get a chiltons on it and go to town that's where i would start or simply have it scanned and see if there are codes present.
