It would help us if we knew what make, model and engine you have. Your ignition could have gotten wet. The timing may have jumped. The spark plug wires are out of order. The distributor cap and rotor may be bad.
Backfiring through the carburetor and no power would seem to be symptoms indicating a problem with your timing. Have the distributor checked.
Most likely cause is a burnt out inlet valve. You need to do a compression check.
Low fuel pressure will do that,as will timing being off,bent push rod,bad valve. get a chiltons on it and go to town that's where i would start or simply have it scanned and see if there are codes present.
