Not sure for just the water pump, but I just had the water pump and coolant crossover gaskets replaced and it was $1,100 at the dealership. Parts weren't bad - $300 or so, but it was ~7 hours in labor. Sounds like it is a beast to do yourself.
How do you replace the water pump on a 1988 Cadillac Seville?
On water pump
on the right side of the engine at the top its on a separate belt

Follow the top radiator hose down to the water outlet. The stat is in there. Let me know if this helps you. Mark
Partially plugged radiator, failed thermostat or bad water pump are the first and most probable candidates.
REMOVE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE AND REMOVE THE TWO BOLTS HOLDING THE FLANGE TO WATER PUMP HOUSING AND TSTAT IS RIGHT THERE
You need just basic hand tools, if you are not experienced with water pump replacement then you should let an experienced mechanic do the job.
If you can verify that water is flowing freely through the entire system then I would check for an exhaust leak into the water jacket. Possibly a blown head gasket.
try relay fans and check cooling system for air pockets
Head gasket? Low coolant level? Water pump not circulating coolant? Thermostat not opening? Radiator plugged or restricted?
