Ever since we bought the computer Mid 2011 we've always put it into rest mode instead of turning it off I'm just curious if I'm harming the computer by not turning it off?

No most experts say best to just let monitor shut down vs rebooting comp constantly, most office buildings only do a real shut off over the weekend and they have hundreds or thousands
