One must assume that both genders are equally susceptible to gonorrhea, but that female anatomy makes it harder to recognize symptoms to begin with and more difficult to treat once found. This would mean that more men are charted as having an incidenceof gonorrhea when they go to a clinic for diagnosis and treatment of their painful discharge, but more women are discovered to have gonorrhea as part of a general exam and therefore gonorrhea has a better chance of prevailing in their bodies before treatment can be applied.
