In Sikhism Suffering is that which is caused by people who have been taken by the five thieves:

Kaam - obsession with sex and sexual activity to the extent it becomes abnormal. Kaam is also a self gratifying desire.

Krodh - Anger, Stubborness. Not willing to see things from others points of view, or being intolerant.

Moh - Materialism or simply wanting to attach ones self to worldly things eg cars, money, even other people and not seeing the bigger picture.

Lobh - Greed, gluttony. Wanting more than ones fair share. Taking without consideration for others.

Hankaar - Rambant Egotism. Thinking you are better than others or being just concerned with self.

The people who dwell in the 5 thieves not on create a hell on earth for themselves, but for others around them.
