Eye Shadow

Eye Shadow is a type of cosmetic product that is applied to the eyelids. The purpose of wearing eye shadow is to make the wearer's eyes stand out particularly with bright and bold colors. The most common type of eye shadow is in a powder format but there are also liquid, pencil and mousse forms. Eye Shadow dates back to 10,000 BC where it was used in Egyptian burials.

What colour eye make up should you have to go with blue eyes and a turquoise dress?

I think a shimmery lilac or light pink would look cute if your'e going for the more subtle but pretty look. You don't want to do too much, especially if you have a bright blue dress. If you want to go for a more sexy look you could do subtle smoky eyes. I have blue eyes and blonde hair too and I use a smoky grey colour instead of black or a silvery colour. Black is sometimes too dark for blue eyes and overpowers them but a grey/silver with cool tones brings the eyes out and makes them pop! Definitely use black mascara or dark dark grey as I find brown doesn't work as well and isn't as dramatic. Use an off-white or light pink eyeliner pencil on the bottom inside of the eyelid and around the inner corner of the eye nearest to the nose to bring the whites of the eyes out and make your eyes even bluer.

If you focus on your blue eyes then you should leave the rest of the look simple. Use a subtle highlighter on the cheekbones. I have pale/medium skin and use a peachy pink blush as well very lightly over the highlighter to give a bit of colour.

Finish off with a subtle lip gloss or lipstick with or without lip-liner in a medium pinky colour that isn't too dark or overpowering so you don't draw attention from the eyes.

Hope this helps! i would also like to say i would recommend a brand of make up called pur minerals. Pur minerals doesnt have any perservatives or any oil or any thing that can harm your skin. It is pur minerals and wont clog your pores. It does nothing to the skin and if breakouts are a problem it wont make it worse. They have all different colours like for those nights on the town or even a nice casual look. I used it and i loved it, but everyones opinon is different. It also gives you a GREAT coverage with all different shades. When i used it i looked so feminem! Hope my additinal answer helps too!

What is the best eye shadow color to wear for blue eyes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To make your blue eyes pop, use a contrasting color. Just as green is the opposite of red, orange is the opposite of blue.

Now, I don't recommend using a matte orange color, since that would look odd and unnatural, but you can achieve a natural orange tone with golds, browns and coppers.

I hope this has helped you!

-Also, your irises tend to pop when you put eyeliner on. It seems to bring out their outer ring.

What is the best smoky eye palette?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Generally, a smoky eye makeup look is done with dark colors. Dark, charcoal greys are the traditional choice but bronze colors or browns also make for a nice, smoky look. Colored smoky eyes are also popular, so maybe try a navy or purple smoky eye. It's more about the technique used than the colors so try experimenting!

What color eye shadow should you wear if you have blue eyes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Colors that mimick your natural skin colors. It starts with the skin so make your skin look nice. Lip color one or two shades darker than your natural lips. As for eyeshadow, if you have:

Brown eyes: A light sweep or translucent purple looks nice. You can use any color

Blue eyes: Same except browns and purples look the best. Blue with blue is a no-no.

What color eye shadow should people with blue eyes wear?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To achieve a natural look, choose from different colors of eyeshadow such as gold, violet, lilac, brown, copper, taupe, gray or black. To further highlight them, use eyelash products such as mascara to have beautiful and longer eyelashes. You can choose a different color of mascara besides the conventional black to make the area stand out some more. Same goes for eyeliner.

Is eye shadow dangerous for eyes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Make-up itself isn't bad for the delicate eye area skin. It can, however, make your eyes look older or tired b/c it's such thin skin. Most women can get away w/going around the undereye area. If you feel you MUST use foundation there (b/c of dark circles, scars, etc.), keep the following tips in mind. 1.) Use as little as possible. The thicker it is, the more likely to settle in fine lines & make your eyes look older/tired. 2.) Also, as a general rule, be sure you're using a foundation that is non-comedogenic (a fancy term for "doesn't clog your pores"). 3.) MOST IMPORTANTLY: use an under eye cream that is specially designed for that area - not an all over face moisturizer. The deal is, the eye area skin IS the most delicate skin on your face. It also is lacking the support structure of collagen underneath. So, using a good eye cream is crucial to protecting this skin & fighting the signs of aging. Hope this helps!

I have green eyes and dirtyblond hair what color eye shadow should I use?

User Avatar

Asked by Popgirl219

The eyeshadow that will make your eye color pop the most will be anything in the red family, since red complements green. So that would mean anything from browns, oranges, reds, golds, pinks, and maybe yellow. Golds would look really nice with dirty blonde hair as well.

Hope this helps!

Can you use bronzer as eye shadow?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I suggest you use bronzer, it has more of a gold tint to it so it will be less harsh and easier to blend into your jaw line if you want full coverage, don't forget, you don't want to look like you're wearing a mask, your face may end up being darker than the rest of your body if you use brown eyeshadow as bronzer. Hope this helped :D

What color eye shadow does Giada De Laurentis wear on her show?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Giada De Laurentiis gets her smoky eye shadow by doing this:

  1. Prime your eyes. Begin by priming the entire eyelid with a good eyeshadow primer. Use a shader brush for smooth, even application.
  2. Wash with color. Brush a purplish-bronze eyeshadow over the primed area of the lid, being careful to avoid coloring the underside of the browbone.
  3. Line your eyes. Line your top lid with black eyeliner (or a similarly dark shade). Using a small, angled brush, begin blending the makeup across the length of your eye, smoothing away any uneven sections. Once done, line the outer edge of your bottom lid with the same shade of eyeliner, then blend/clean it up with a brush (or your finger, if it's more comfortable). Carefully apply eyeliner to the inner edge of your bottom lid and the lash-line of your upper lid for a full, uniform look. If desired, brush some of the eyeliner upward from the outer corners of your eyes for a bolder, more trendy look.
  4. Amplify your lashes. Finish the look by applying two coats of mascara. Starting with the upper lashes, work the mascara brush from the roots outward, wiggling the brush as you go; repeat with the bottom lashes. Give the mascara a moment to set, then repeat the process.

What is pressed eyeshadow?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A pressed eyeshadow is basically a loose pigment taken out of it's container and "pressed" into a little eyeshadow pan. This is done because loose pigments can be hard to work with- since it is in "loose" form, it can be very messy and a lot of products tend to get wasted.

Hair color is only one of the important factors when determining an eye shadow color. Typically, you should wear an eye shadow color that is opposite of your eye color. Personally, I think brown looks good on just about everyone.

What is a good eye shadow palette for brown eyes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

PRESSED POWDER: This is the most common kind of eye shadow. It is easy to use, easy to carry, and works. Almost every makeup company makes this.

LOOSE POWDER: This looks like colored baby powder. I've seen it two ways. One is in a little bottle with a brush (it looks very much like a bottle of nail polish), and the other is a little jar and you supply your own brush. Bare Minerals eye shadow is loose powder.

PENCIL: It looks like a fat eyeliner pencil.

CREAM: This is good if you want a really dramatic, intense color on your eyes. You cannot do "subtle" with this.
