Fan motor on a 1997 Chevy Astro?

the fan motor is located in the front right ( passenger ) side of the engine compartment. As I recall, You need to remove the coolant over flow reservoir and the windshield washer fluid bottle. Then you need to get a stiff utility knife and cut through the black plastic cover in front of the blower motor. There are two parralell raised lines that circle around the front plastic cover. Cut between those raised lines. You can then get to the motor very easily to replace it. I looks like you could replace the plastic motor cover you cut away by using several metal clips to hold the plastic cover piece back on or perhaps some really good tapemight work. I left mine off. My fan motor had lost a winding and would sometimes start and run and sometimes it would not depending on the position the rotor was in when it stopped. (I verified the open winding with an ohm meter.) The new motor was not very expensive and it works grest now.
