"... and Nellie had no muff." --- Final line of one of the chapters from 'On The Banks of Plum Creek'. I'm not kidding. That's gotta be one of the most quotable Little House lines, like, ever. Joking aside, it's actually referring to a fur cape-and-muff set that Laura got for Christmas, and Nellie was envious of it because she only had a fur cape, but no muff.

She is described as strong willed, brave, happy, and hard working. Physically, she was very short - 4',11" tall. She had a rather round figure, (which she hated, calling herself "roly-poly"), but was, by the standards of her time, very pretty, with roan brown hair and violet eyes.
Laura Elizabeth was born in the Big Woods of Wisconsin to Charles and Caroline Ingalls, a younger sister to Mary and an older sister to Carrie, who's real name was Caroline after her mother. One of Laura's siblings many do not know of is Grace, Laura's little sister. She was born, I think, in the Kansas territory, but I'm not sure on that. Laura lived a childhood of adventure. Her family was forever on the move West. From the time when Laura was approximately six to approximately fourteen, she traveled across the Western frontier from Wisconsin to De Smut, and saw all that lay in between. To find out more, I strongly suggest you read Laura's books, the Little House Series She can tell you best!
