It seems that we are having problems with our sewers. Who does this kind of work and how would I go about finding someone who can fix a sewer leak?
The two best methods for finding ac leaks are to charge the system with a fluorescent dye and use a uv light to look for the leak or to use an electronic "sniffer" leak detector.
you must have a leak or moisture build up
By finding and repairing the leak.
I keep finding water on my floor when I run my dishwasher. What types of leak detection and repair kit should I purchase at Home Depot?
It is cheaper to replace it. Finding someone to repair it is almost impossible.
A leak (window / ac / floorboard etc.) may be allowing water in. Check the carpet's under the floor mat's for dampness. Finding the leak is another problem!
Try a different mechanic. Finding the leak should be easy if they have a sniffer. (leak sensing tool)
There are 2 , common, ways to detect leaks. An electronic leak detector and dye. Sometimes both are needed. Of course the system has to be full of freon to for the dye to leak out or for an electronic detector to find a leak (just like finding an air leak in a tire). If the leak is at a connection, you may be able to just replace O rings, if a component (Like the compressor, condensor, evaporator) is leaking it will need replaced. If the system has freon in it, the law says to recover it with a recovery machine. There are 2 , common, ways to detect leaks. An electronic leak detector and dye. Sometimes both are needed. Detailed instructions on finding and repairing swimming pool leaks can be found at the article links added to the left.
If it leaks it leaks. Central units are self contained with no external rotating shaft seals to leak. If the tech came out and added freon without detectng the leak, either he did exactly what you directed, or he is a BS artist hoping for a repeat job.
Finding a leak in your boat should be dealt with ASAP. You can contact a boat repair person and could probably find one on angies list. You can find tips for locating the leak at www.windline.net/proj4.htm -
