A.K.A Hydramatic, A.K.A PowerGlide. Also known as an Automatic Transmission. Hope This Helps.
The sands have shifted, somewhat. As we passed the roadster, I shifted into second gear.
The little Nash Rambler suddenly shifted out of second gear. When the unsecured load shifted during a left turn, it tipped the truck right onto it's side.
your transmission is out. your transmission is out.
An automatic transmission might be slow shifting from first to second because of low transmission fluid. You might also have damaged the gears in the transmission at the area between first and second.
Transmission is getting tired - transmission death rattle
The transmission defaults to second gear when it detects a malfunction. The transmission defaults to second gear when it detects a malfunction.
Several things can cause your transmission to be stuck in second gear. Broken or detached shifting linkage will cause the problem. A broken shifting for in the transmission can also cause the problem.
IF the transmission is slipping when it shifts, I would say it's too late for changing the fluid. I have been in touch with many people who have had these trannies go out. I've had two that first starting slipping when they shifted from second to third gear.I'm in the process of taking one apart to see if I can learn what is causing it to fail. I wouldn't spend very much on an overhaul as they aren't worth it.
The transmission computer will default to second gear only when it detects a malfunction and sets a code.
change your transmission fluid and transmission filter if the problem persists then your transmission is most likely no good.
Stripped transmission, low transmission fluid.
