The light-dependent stage. This is where light is absorbed by chlorophyll - the green pigment in plants- and water is split into Hydrogen and Oxygen. Energy is used to make ATP -Adenosine Tri-Phosphate- from ADP - Adenosine Di-Phosphate- which is called Photophosphorylation. Hydrogen combines with a hydrogen acceptor and Oxygen is released from the leaf.
