How are Fjord ponies manes typically cut?
they are usually pulled to make the hair look shorter but its actually not. I no this because i have a fjord, actually two. They have a black stripe with white hairs around that line. The hair is often trimmed short enough that it stands straight up, and the white hairs are trimmed shorter than the black hairs so that it is more noticable.

The forelock is left long for natural protection against biting insects.
