because the English were lazy and expected everything handed to them therefore they wouldn't bother to hunt for their food so they starved to death and also because it was next to a malaria swamp.
No other colony was able to harm Jamestown. They also had a good water source/route. Jamestown can contribute most of their success to John Smith and John Rolphe. John Smith made sure everybody worked. John Rolphe started tobacco planting.

The colony of Jamestown was so named after James I of England, their king. These settlers were very loyal, and this is said to be the beginning of the British Empire.
the colonists were the people of the colony, so therefore they basically had to help if they wanted to keep the colony running.
food is scarce in polar regions because polar regions are mostly covered with ice so because of ice and the cold weather people cannot sell or buy things. that is why food is scarce in polar regions.
