The DirectX 11 can still work perfectly on your ATI Radeon 4850.
No, the only graphics cards available as of 2/1/10 that support DirectX11 are the Radeon 5000 series, Nvidia is currently developing their DirectX11 GPU, Fermion.
Well my friend, I did some research and found out that they are pretty close to a tie. This is because in some ways the radeon is better and in other ways it's not. I have some info on the 280 right here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3930709&CatId=3669 and some info on the radeon right here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3947461&CatId=3670 Just scroll down and see the specs. In one big way that the 280 is better than the radeon is that the 280 has exactly ywice the memory as the radeon but it's your choice. I most likely get the radeon.
