HMMM. have you checked your oil pressre to make sure that it is up to specs on the pressure? I would say, either you have an oilpump that is weak, and takes awhile to get up to pressure or else....you have very loud lifter noise....when lifters wear out they start bleeding off oil thus collapsing the lifter....this causes there to be a gap between the top of the lifter and bottom of the rocker arm, thus causing a knock or tick, until the oil fills the lifter and expands it.....this causes the gap to dissappear and also the knock or tick. Replacing the lifters will fix this; if this is the cause.... Oil pressure could also cause a knock in the lower half of the engine...but this usually always will knock and not silence much as the engine warms.....the main bearings, that surround the crank shaft, have grooves in them called "OIL GALLEY" or "OIL PASSAGE"...when the bearings wear the oil galleys are worn down and will resrtict oil, thus lowering oil pressure and creating a knocking sound...This is BAD news and a large repair bill!
