Something is very wrong - likely to be in the back-end suspension.
Take it to a reputable repair shop and have a professional inspection. That doesn't mean you have to have them repair it, and if not, you may have to pay a nominal inspection fee. My favorite tire shop charges $20.
That's well worth it to know definitively what is wrong and avoid replacing perfectly good parts.
Check the rear struts
If the check engine light is coming on periodically when hitting a bump in a 1995 Ford Taurus, perhaps a sensor is loose. Check both the oxygen sensors and the speed sensors on the transmission. Also check all sensors in the engine to make sure they are tight.

It has an automatic fuel shutoff. The Chevrolet S10 does not use a inertia fuel shut down switch, that's a Ford thing.

The shaking you experience is caused by slack in the front end. Have it checked by a professional. You've probably got some bad ball joints or tie rods. Either way it can be dangerous.
Suspension mounting rubber needs replacing.
When you hit the bump, the mouse wakes up.
if your riding your brakes,you may have warped rotors, otherwise its something wrong with your steering and/or alignment. hope this helps : )
