It wasn't France's and Great Britain's fault. Most blame The Treaty of Versailles being to harsh on Germany, which it really was.If it hadn't been so horrible, things might have been different.

France and Britian could have prevented world war two if they had acted differently because, when Hitler first marched into the Rhineland britian just ignored it and let him take the land, if they had stopped hitler from taking over the Rhineland then world war two may not have happened. Appesement was also a main policy of britian and france towards germany during the 1930s. After hitler marched into the Rhineland Britan and France kept letting Hitler get away with every attack he made, therefore world war two happened.

If Britain and France had not adopted a policy of appeasement would Hitler have been as successful as he was in overrunning Europe?

Conventional wisdom has it that if the allies acted (militarily) against Hitler earlier they might have caught him unprepared and defeated him or at least caused him to be overthrown by German resistance groups or the army. We'll never know.

Was Napoleon a populist?

Uneqivocally Yes ! I don't know if he ever said he was France itself, but he certainly acted as though he was. What he did was to embody his nation. And he was uncompromising in that. He transformed France, though at great cost. But his leadership syle was uncompromising, whether that is in civil lawmaking or on the battlefield.

Did Britain invade Sweden?

Despite Sweden and Britain being in war against each other (Anglo-Sweden War) in 1810-1812, no military action was actually taken. Sweden only declared war on Britain because it was defeated by its enemies and forced to sign a treaty by them - part of the treaty said that Sweden must declare war on Britain. Despite the fact that Sweden and Britain are allies. Sweden and Britain just acted as they normally would. Sweden even allowed Britain to dock military ships in Hanö. Neither side invaded or attacked the other. It's often referred to as "the Cold War of the 1800's". When the Swedish crown prince, Charles August, died, Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte became the crown prince of Sweden. When France attacked Sweden (breaking the treaty Sweden was forced to sign), Jean cancelled the treaty and re-established an alliance with Britain, saying the declaration against them was wrong and pointless.

The Hartford Convention was a series of meeting in Hartford, discussing grievances about the War of 1812. Nothing much happened other than these talks.

How did the remilitarization of the rhineland impact international affairs?

France would only take action against Germany if brittain helped them. Britain declined and so nothing was done against the Germans. If France had acted against Germany, Germany would have been in no fit state to defend them and the 3rd Reich could have been over. bus due to Britain's policy of appeasement nothing was done. this gave Germany a strong border in the west and enabled them to focus their attention on the east, especially the sudetenland in chezoslovakia, as Germany continued to re-arm and Britain continued to appease them until September 3rd 1939 when ww2 began. euan999@hotmail.co.UK
