Benjamin Franklin's almanac was called Poor Richard's Almanack. It's popularity was caused by the weather forecast outlooks it provided (much like the current Farmer's Almanac) as well as the puzzles and games it held which were used for enjoyment and as a diversion.

Benjamin Franklin (who was not a US President) was born in Boston, MA. He ran away to Philadelphia when he was 17, and he's more strongly associated with that city as that's where he spent much of his adult life.
