Being separated from white soldiers
Your "facts" are in error.Between 65,000 and 100,000 blacks served in the Confederate Army. Let me restate that: as many as 100,000 blacks served in the Army of the South. These men were cooks, musicians, and soldiers.Of the 179,000 blacks who served in all aspects of the Union Army and 19,000 who served in the Navy, 40,000 died in service.Where the majority of Northern blacks volunteered, many of the Southern blacks were pressed into service, although quite a few volunteered to serve in the Confederate cause.
About 180,000-200,000 blacks, two thirds of them former slaves served in the Union armies.
no
Blacks have served in the military since the American Revolution. 1948 was the year Truman removed all restrictions for blacks in the armed services
If referring to the revolutionary army, the answer is yes. Both freemen and slaves served. Slaves were offered the opportunity to earn their freedom if they served for one year. Many free black men sided with the rebels against England.
Sit-in demonstrations are what got the attention of the country. These were actions taken where blacks would just sit at the counters demanding to be served. You can say they asserted their civil right to sit and eat at any establishment offering sit-down food service.
58 IMPROVEMENT In all 178,975 blacks soldiers served in the Union Army.
Some blacks were refused the chance to serve because southern officers refused to have them in their regiments. Many of the southern officers were slaveholders and believed either (a) that blacks were inferior and could not fight, or (b) that teaching blacks to use guns and swords would only encourage the slaves to revolt. The British Army began accepting free blacks and escaped slaves with various promises of rewards including emancipation, land, etc. Some American regiments began admitting blacks, mainly after 1776. About two-thirds of the black soldiers in the Revolutionary War served for the British and one-third for the Americans.
Actually the Chinese, Hispanic, and Native Americans were discriminated against and often claimed jumped. In many gold rush towns they were taxed just to be there and weren't served in various places due to discrimination.

Slave codes restricted the rights and freedoms of free blacks by imposing limitations on their movement, occupation, and ability to testify in court. They also reinforced the racial hierarchy and served to further marginalize and oppress free blacks in society.
