Carthage can be described in many ways, however, to describe it in three ways will not meet all of the descriptions that can be given. Here are three descriptive pieces of information about Carthage: 1. Carthage was a sea trading nation that gained wealth by this method; 2. Carthage dominated the western Mediterranean Sea for hundreds of years; and 3. Carthage became a victim of ancient Rome through a series of wars that finally led to its total destruction in 146 BC.
Before the wars Carthage controlled much of Northern Africa, southern Spain and had a foot hold in Sicily. They also had dominance over the seas and until the Punic wars had an unmatched and vast trade fleets. Much of Carthage's wealth came from control of trade roots.

Rome gained ascendancy in the Western Mediterranean.
After the fall of Carthage, the Romans gained dominance over the Mediterranean. It was at this time that they could actually be called a super power.
Rome and Carthage fought each other for the control of the Mediterranean trade. Whoever controlled the trade routs, controlled the wealth.
Rome defeated and destroyed Carthage and gained control of the Western Mediterranean.
The ancient city of Carthage is in modern day Tunisia, which is in Africa. There are not a lot of historical records for Carthage, but it was said to be a place of great wealth.
Rome against Carthage; Rome won all three wars; Rome gained control of the Western Mediterranean and gained a foothold in the Eastern Mediterranean after defeating Macedonia, ally of Carthage.
America gained more wealth (money) not as much as great britain.
Venice gained so much wealth after the crusasdes because Venetians women were so hot. They either became sex slave or prostitute and made a lot of money :)
