The fathometer is a kind of sonic depth finder. A fathometer will display water depth and make an automatic permanent record of measurement.
Depth finder (sonar)
When buying a depth finder what you should look for depends on which of the four varieties you're buying because they're all used for different activities. It should have a GPS tracker and sonar but other features vary by use.
They use ultra sound waves that are bounced off the bottom of a body of water. Newer depth finders use sonic waves.
Condensation can be eliminated on the LCD screen of a GPS depth sounder by sealing the seams between the screen and frame with a silicone aquarium sealant. Also, put petroleum jelly on any visible cracks on the screen.
Color Depth
It's very similar to the depth finder on a boat...sound waves are transmitted to the target and the "depth" determined from timing the return of the echo. This is in turn converted into a picture by computer software. I hope this makes sense to you.
Flat panel. reGee
Vedio ram
It's trick of the camera and the screen, which doesn't catch depth or display depth that well. Makes you look a bit flattened out, which comes across as fatter.
