On a '86 corvette it is located behind the warning lite display/ mode switch unit in the upper part of the center console. (really stupid place for it.)
there are 3 or 4 fuses located there including the one that controls the rear hatch release.
On a 1987 corvette the relay is behind the info center display. There is also a fuse for the horn which is usually whats wrong its a 15 amp. if its blown i would replace this before the relay. You need to remove the center bezel, then remove the info center and you will find lots of stuff back there.
I located mine in the fuse block on the right side of the center console panel. It was the 20 amp fuse (same as the one for the power door locks) This was for the cig lighter This info is for the 93 SL2 model auto
on fuse box cover on inside will have all the info.
each fuse box has a plastic cover has all the info. you need , olso you will find this in the manual
The receiver is behind the left side of the IP, behind the driver info center

My Info Display Center shorted last week. It's in the pass. floorboard. It's the fuse on the bottom row identified as rad/hvac. My display started smoking. I found a burnt spot on the circuit board. It shorted out and took out the radio. It's a 15 amp blue fuse.
What fuse? Needs more info. to be answer.
The positive battery cable goes on the big terminal, in the center. Ignition wire, from the fuse box, ultimately the key, goes to the inside terminal on the selenoid. Then, I wlould run a wire from the outside small terminal, to the coil. This will give the motor 12 volts, while cranking.
