The League of Nations which existed between WW 1 and WW 2 was ineffective for a few reasons. First and foremost, almost all its decisions had to be unanimous which meant that any member could block a decision so almost no decisions were ever reached on important issues. Secondly, important countries were not made members considering the League was established to prevent further war: the USA refused to join and Germany was not invited to join until 1929. Thirdly, although sanctions could be imposed, several countries had reason to fear that at some point they might become victims of sanctions themselves, so sanctions were rarely applied and then only in watered-down form. Lastly, there was no provision made for the possibility of League of Nations armed action: no peacekeeping force or intervention force could ever be sent anywhere which made the League a toothless tiger.
many senators thought that joining the league of nations would compromise soverignty in the united states which is why they rejected Wilson´s 14 points.
Republican isolationists refused to ratify our participation in the League of Nations, because they feared it would give up some of our sovereignty. The League of Nations was virtually powerless without the United States.
no.
- Mussolini readied to invade Abyssinia (Ethiopia). He wanted war and glory, so Abyssinia asked the League of Nations to help. - The League attempted to reason with Mussolini but he used this time to send an army to Africa, so the league suggested a compromise to give only a part of Abyssinia to Italy. - Mussolini ignored the League, and continued to invade Abyssinia. - This resulted in the League banning weapon sales and putting sanctions on rubber and metal. - Italy conquered Abyssinia, so the League had failed

There hasn't been a League of Nations for over 60 years, but no country should give up its national sovereignty to an international organization .
Actually, UN is the successor of League of Nations. After the end of the league, i.e, after the outbreak of second world war, the members thought it was better to form a new world organization rather than reforming the League. That's how UN was created, and the UN wouldn't have existed if the league had. so there's no question of UN playing ANY role in the end of the League of Nations..!!!
The Treaty of Versailles meant Germany was to give up colonies, land, and repay for the war as well as cut their military might. The League of Nations was supposed to ensure this but without the backing of the Unites States the League of nations was too weak to do anything.
