How do you get dignity back after losing it with a man?

I hope I am reading this question correctly, forgive me if I'm wrong, but this man has lost respect for because of some action on your part? I realise that "losing it" is an expression, and that maybe you mean that you "lost your temper" with a man - but I doubt that you'd worry too much over that. ==== it all depends on what caused the loss of dignity, and if the circumstances which led to it are ever likely to cause you to lose it again. If you are absolutely certain that you won't react the same way again then I would suggest that you apologize to him - and to anyone with whom he may have lost his dignity because of your behaviour. Explain that it was a once-off and it won't happen again. You may need to do this in writing, choosing your words carefully. If he is truly interested then he will probably give you a period of 'probation', but don't expect to be welcomed back with open arms. (I speak as a man who had to recover his dignity with his wife! So what I'm saying is not gender-specific. I no how hard it can be to come up with just the right words.) It may be that he cannot or will not forgive, in which case you're better off without him. We all deserve a second chance, if we are really sorry for our actions. It will take time and effort to regain his trust, which will probably come some time before your dignity is restored to you. However, bear this in mind...."You" lost "your" dignity - what "he" lost is his respect for you. We create our own dignity, and its preservation is purely in our own hands.
