You'd be surprised! They're not "attacking" each other, but they're mating! If one is chasing the other and biting them, you have 2 goldfish that are mating, not attacking each other! Hope this helps!

∙ 14y agoGoldfish are not naturally an aggressive fish. Chasing is often done as a prelude to breeding so is nudging. They are however omnivourous and fin nipping can happen sometimes if the fish are not getting enough protein in their diet.

∙ 14y agoIf you have more than 2 they are either fighting to work out the pecking order in the group or they are trying to find a suitable mate. If you have just 2 they are probably checking one another out as potential breeding partners.
