If you want a good book try Horowitz he writes amazing books like the Alex rider series , The power of five series and The CHERUB series. If you don't like them try the young bond series by Charlie Higson he wrote By royal command , and many more they are fantastic. However if you really want a good read try The Inheritance cycle Eragon, eldest, Brisinger and there is going to be a fourth book in the series however the title and release date are still unknown .

I do a crap to of reading XD these are a few I liked and I'm 14... About The Outsiders that one is real good, most girls like it cause they think the stars of the movie are hot but its a great story on its own of bad against good. And a mid summers night dream? That's Shakespeare and its pretty advanced so you don't have to read that I dont know.

I would say Harry Potter and the Alex Rider series.

I would recommend The Obsidian Pebble by RA Jones (rajonesauthor.com), especially if your kids liked Harry Potter or are into mysteries!

The series Anne of Green Gables. Still reading that as an adult. Narnia is also good. And Artemis Fowl.

The Alcatraz series by Brandon Sanderson is hilarious, Cornelia Funke is good... Westerfield's series starting with Pretties is excellent as well.

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are excellent reading, as well as the Foundation series (Asimov), if the preteen is an advanced reader.

As and avid reader of young adult books, here are a few of my favorites:

• "Twilight" and the rest of the saga by Stephanie Meyer
• "Vampire Diaries" by L.J. Smith
• "Cirque Du Freak" and "Demonata" series by Darren Shan

I personally do not think a kid should read most of those books. Vampires are stupid and cirque du freak is very gorie. A peron's arm gets ripped of. I recommend a new book called Hero, By Mike lupica and its not about sports.

I have read many teen books, but for me the best are:

1. The Hunger Games triology- I loved the series very much and the proof is in its many awards. The series is addictive and the plot is well written. I recommend this book thoroughly. I'm a big fan of these books.

2. City of Bones- This book is very good, and a worthwhile book for teenagers.

3. The Evermore series- This book is a fantastic read for teenagers. I spent a whole week reading this book and it's hard to get out of your mind.

4. The Vladimir Tod series: I thought that this book was amazing. It helped make me realize that I wasn't alone in my teen life. I really enjoyed this series.
