It had a large population, a good economy and a huge army, fully capable of dominating Europe. Britain joined the Triple Entente with Russia and France. When Germany attacked France by going through Belgium, a country Britain had a treaty to protect, war was declared on Germany.

This is not actually true. Britain itself didn't "saved" any country from the Nazis. In fact, Britain before 1939 was trying to establish good relations with Nazi Germany and avoid war. Britain declared war on Nazi Germany when they attacked Poland in September 1939, because it was obligated to do so by the treaty, but Britain provided no military support to Poland and didn't start any war campaign until June 1940, when British troops were attacked at Dunkirk.
