Adriaen Block explored land around the Connecticut river in 1614
John Smith I think this information is not correct. According to John Smith's "A Description of New England," he arrived at Monhegan, Maine in April of 1614, explored and traded along the coast, and was back in London in October 1614. So, he would have been in what is now called Christmas Cove between those two dates. There are much better sources for such material than the one cited.
In 1614, John Smith explored what is now New Hampshire. By 1623, settlers founded New Hampshire's first permanent non-Indian town. Today that town is Hover. John Mason named New Hampshire in 1629 after Hampshire, England. In 1641, it was part of Massachusetts, but by 1680 it was made a colony by New England
He got married in 1614 to Chief Powhatans Daughter, Pocahontas. That made peace come about between the colonists and the indians.
