These kind of pains are usually self limiting and you can continue conservative treatments like stretching, general aerobic conditioning and strengthening exercises to maintain good flexibility, posture and biomechanics at home. Remember once injured, the area is at a mechanical disadvantage and more susceptible to re-injury. Stay active and if the recurrent pain is different from your usual pain or worsened from baseline, seek medical attention. There may be need for re-imaging, formal physical therapy sessions or medications or injections.

Depending on your injury, it may be beneficial to have your site of injury, medications and physical therapy re-evaluated. Ten years later, you may have some reduced muscle strength or your meds may have become ineffective. In the meantime, try water exercise, Tai Chi, yoga or other non-weight bearing exercise to see if you get relief for at least the time you are moving.
