Well the piercings will not close up completely after that period of time. It can take a year or longer for piercings over a year old to shrink and close.

it can take from only an hour or two or a few days. when you first pierce it, you cant take it out for more than an hour. i had mine pierced for over a year now and i can probably leave it out for a week and it will still stay pierced.

After a year... i dont think so! After a month of getting mine done, my bar fell out at swimming once as i had no ball on one end. I got home after about 3 hours.
