Definately!I used to straighten my hair every day, fighting it every step of the way for that straight look. When I went to the hair place to freshen up my look, my stylist scolded me for damaging my hair to such an extent! I never really noticed, but the damage has built up. Afterwards, I got a do that didn't require straightening. It was almost immediatly softer, fuller, and much less of a hassle. ANSWER

Chemical straightening is very damaging to the hair. It has a very high PH level, more than any other chemical services, including perms. So unless you have strong, really course, healthy hair I would not recommend it. Flat ironing or any sort of heat used on your hair will also cause damage. You can help prevent flat iron, blow dry, and curling iron damage by making sure to use a heat protectant on you hair every time you apply heat to your hair. You can buy these through your stylist and they can recommend the best one for your hair type. Your stylist can also do a deep conditioning treatment to your hair and it will really improve the damage already done. You also should get a haircut ever 4-6 weeks to keep your hair in it's best shape.
