Impromptu Speaking is exactly what it sounds like: delivering a speech in an impromptu manner ;) Typically, a person is given a topic that could be about anything (a quote, proper name, proverb, news event, movie title, etc.), are allowed a certain amount of time to prep (2-3 minutes is standard to write a quick outline on a note card), and then they immediately deliver a speech with only the note card as reference.
