It probably needs a new clutch.
The steering wheel in your 1996 may be hard to turn because you are low on power steering fluid. You can add some on your own and your steering wheel will not be hard to turn.
streering is hard
The car will run O.K., but steering will be hard ... especially when you try to park.
the steering pump belt is loose and needs to be tightened up. hope this helps.
A steering wheel is hard to remove by hand. It can be removed with a tool called the steering wheel remover found at local auto shops.
Check the fluid level in the Power Steering reservoir. If it is full then you may have a pump failing or a problem with the rack & pinion steering system.
you have to take off the hubs and you need crazy hard to find tools
should be up under dash on driver side left of steering column, hard to see even harder to reach, should be a 1 inch square black plastic box hanging by wires. hope this help I have a 1993
You will need a pump, pump brackets, pulleys, belt, hoses, a power steering box and all the nuts and bolts. A doner vehicle would be good to have.
