The Torah doesn't have to be written consecutively. If a word is erased in the middle, it may be rewritten without rewriting the earlier verses (B'er Heitev, Yoreh Deah 288:2).
However, a misspelling of the tetragrammaton (YHVH) in Hebrew requires the scribe to throw out that entire piece of parchment and start again.
