Has anyone felt the same or similar effects coming on Lexapro as tapering off?

I took Lexapro for one day (1 20mg pill) and never felt so sick in my life...had horrible jaw tremors that turned into a gag reflex and nausea, dizziness, shakiness, just a general nasty feeling. I thought if one pill does this to me, what will happen if I keep taking it? So I stopped after reading the Horror stories of so many who have taken this awful drug. And like so many, my doctor told me there were minimal side effects!! A few days later, after one pill, I've been experiencing hives and swollen lymph nodes in my neck and groin. Has anyone else noticed this?? Thanks.

Has anyone been able to taper off lexapro without all the side effects lasting so long?
I took 10 mg a day for a year. I started tapering very very slowly. Taking about 20% increments off the pill every two weeks. I know it's REALLY slow but it has worked for me. Just the occasional headache which can be blamed on stress or just PMS. I think slow is the way to go. Good luck.
I have been on Lexapro and I cannot stop eating no matter how hard I try. I have gained at least 20 pounds and have gone up 3 sizes. Has anyone else had the munchies while on Lexapro?
yes i have a similar problem. maybe it is because you are less depressed, but in my case i don't feel that way.

Dose anyone know if Lexapro considered a benzo? NO, definitely not! As a matter of fact, I do not know of any current SSRI antidepressants that have BZE's (benzos) mixed with or included in there manufacturing process....

Has anyone had trouble with their gallbladder because you took Lexapro?
I did and ended it with having my gallbladder removed and weaning off Lexapro in one week. My first problems with my gallbladder arose a couple of months into taking Lexapro for the first time years before. I stopped and then I had a pregnancy and about 5 year with no lexapro. When I had a traumatic family sitiuation I tried Lexapro again and again a couple of months into it I started to have gallbladder attacks. I took one lexapro after my surgery and it made me so sick I have vowed to never touch it again. It sucked because it really did great for my anxiety.

I have been taking lexapro for years and have gained a total of 20 lbs and my eating habits have never changed I blame the lexapro and now I will slowly stop taking it due to this fact.I've tried losing the weight just about starving myself ,walking nothing works I truly believe it is the lexapro>

Taking 20 mg of lexapro for 2 years but having fatigue dr recommended switching from lexapro to 30 mg of Cymbalta for 2 weeks and then 60 mg has anyone switched and what was your experience?
I switched from 10mg lexapro to 30 mg cymbalta for 2 wk and then 60 mg. Have had good results. For one thing I quit gaining weight, as I did on lexapro. Cymbalta also helped my muscle aches and pains as an added plus.
Can I take wellbutrin to offset sexual side effects of lexapro?
You can try it, although the full 300mg dose of wellbutrin is likely what's needed it if wil work for you. The 150mg doesn't seem to do much for anyone. I tried wellbutrin with just about every ssri out there, in different combinations and dosages but in three years I haven't found anything that significantly offsets the sexual side effects of ssris. Unfortunately, I think that if you're prone to the sexual s/e's of ssri there is nothing you can do about it - other than to stop taking them. It really sucks because I really liked lexapro but in the end had to choose between stress/irritability and the sex.
Does anyone have swishing noises in head when turning and vertigo while coming off lexapro?
I'm currently trying to get off of Lexapro. I've been taking 10-20 mg for the past 5 yrs. I haven't experienced the noises, but certainly the sensation of swishing when turning my head side to side, as well as the vertigo/dizziness. Many other people cite the same sensations as this when withdrawing from Lexapro.
