I have two 9'x8" doors installed about 9 months ago. Yes, they do indeed look like real wood. I have so many people come to me to advise me on the best way to upkeep the "wood" doors. Their jaws dropped when I told them the doors are made of a composite material and does not have the problems of natural wood. Doors are very lightweight. My real wood doors (previous house) are very heavy and require two persons to open it when the power goes out. So far I have no problems with the doors. Doors have gone through a hot summer and heavy snow season without any problems whatsoever. I have model 301 installed (pecky cypress with clear cypress as the overlay). Cost me less than $2000 for the door and installation work. Check out Fatezzi's web site...www.fatezzi.com or www.ackue.com. If you decide to go with a Fatezzi door, I suggest you consult with your builder and make sure you ask the manufacturer to send you samples of their wood. Pecky Cypress has lots of pecks/holes. Some people like it; others may not like the look. The manufacturer offers a wide variety of carriage door styles and wood species.

You may have to go to the county office and ask to speak to a supervisor. I'm not sure what it is about being a inspector that eventually leads them to believe they can walk on water... If you are framed for a garage door and your outlets are at garage height you will be fine. I don't think Obamma has gotten around to regulating phones in garages yet.
I think a steel garage is better than a wood garage because wood can rot and steel can't. Steel is a more reliable choice.
These days it's all fiber optic lines. I don't think you will be able to find anyone to do this.
I keep mine in my driveway. Other have garages, warehouses, parking garages, the side of the highway, etc;

The prices of garage doors are around 200 bucks retail. I think making a garage door is much more cheaper than buying one because of the escalation of prices in this economy
