Science has helped humanity through research in medicine and has provided sophisticated technologies in the medical sector to cure, detect and prevent any diseases. It has also made our lives more easier through technologies again and this has decreased our burden of work both at home and at the workplace. Science has also made transport become faster, safer, cheaper and more comfortable. People can now travel across the globe and this has allowed the world to become a global village. Science has also made communications easier. We can now communicate with anyone, at anytime and anywhere. However science has also caused harm to humanity with the creation of harmful and deadly weapons. There has also been an increase in electronic crimes due to science. Science has also been causing harm to the environment for ages. Science has helped us in many ways and has made our lives easier and more comfortable. We cannot say that it is science which has caused harm to us. It is the MISUSE of science that has caused harm to humanity and not science per se.

Why has science done more harm than good?

Science has not done more harm than good. If it were not for science we would still be fighting with wooden sticks, be using leaches to cure diseases, and would be drilling holes in people's heads when we thought they were possessed by the devil when in fact they only had a fever.

What harm does science do to mankind?

I don't think so. The amount of lives science has saved: Most operational procedures use science that was discovered by scientists. Helicopters that airlift people were developed by engineering founded on science. I'm sure you can think of many more. Sure, when we have to discover things we sometimes have to do some harm in the process, but then if we didn't, we wouldn't have Mythbusters!

Do you believe that science and technology currently do more harm to our youth or do more good for our youth?

While it is true that science has proved to be a mixed blessing, which has made possible global warming among other unfortunate developments, I still think that science and technology on the whole do more good than harm for our youth and the human race in general. I personally have no desire to return to the stone age, and certainly if the human race were to abandon science and technology and live by hunting and gathering, almost all of the current world population of seven billion people would die of starvation and disease within a matter of months at the most. We need our science and technology.
